Senior Structural Engineer (Senior Project Manager)
(Vancouver)

Our growing Vancouver team is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to manage and lead an exciting mix of local and not-so-local projects.  We are looking for a someone with a wide array of local project and technical experience who is experienced and familiar with local building practices, permitting and industry standards. A first-principles approach to engineering and a keen interest in architecture and building science is a must for this role.

You will:

  • Lead and manage medium to large sized buildings and specialty structure projects, throughout all design and construction phases including:
    • Oversee project team, including junior and intermediate engineers, drafters, etc.;
    • Project financial health management;
    • Monthly billing management.
  • Perform detailed structural design, including preparation of calculations, computer modelling and analysis, under the mentorship of the Associate or Principal-in-Charge;
  • Participate in and lead client meetings, facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges, and providing status updates;
  • Conduct review of the architectural, electrical, mechanical and structural drawings;
  • Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with contractors, other consultants, and suppliers;
  • Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge resources and mentor junior structural engineers to ensure project quality standards;
  • Be creative and innovative in problem solving;
  • Want to work with a team that is passionate and dedicated in a fast-paced environment;
  • Be driven to excel and outperform, while not taking yourself too seriously and having fun at work!
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 8 to 10 years of local experience designing buildings and specialty structures generally in the residential, commercial, municipal and institutional sectors;
  • You must be a P.Eng. registered in BC or eligible for accreditation within 6 months of your start date;
  • Strong track record in leading and delivering projects in steel and concrete. Timber is an asset but not a requirement;
  • A working knowledge and ability to use programs such as RFEM, S-Concrete, Tedds, MathCAD, other structural analysis software and other programs such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering;
  • Experience with architecturally expressive structures;
  • PE or SE

Intermediate Structural Engineer
(Switzerland)

Since its inception in 2017, our Swiss office has been involved in some cutting edge and highly visible projects in Europe and North America. We are looking for a driven individual with a diverse skill set to grow with us during these interesting times. Focus will be on Mass Timber Projects located in Europe. This is a unique opportunity to have a meaningful impact on company growth with the support of a global community of knowledgeable and experienced colleagues.

 

You will:

  • Perform detailed structural design under the mentorship of the principal-in-charge and/or senior engineers.
  • Participate in delivering medium to large sized projects in Switzerland and Europe, throughout all design and construction phases.
  • Act as project manager for small to medium sized projects, throughout all design and construction phases.
  • Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with other design consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Deliver project deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Build positive relationships with clients and help promote our core values.
  • Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge resources.
  • Be creative and innovative in problem solving.
  • Act as a role model to junior engineers and BIM technicians.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Switzerland as structural engineer.

  • Be comfortable with and effective at engaging with team members and clients virtually through Zoom/Teams.
  • Demonstrate ability to work autonomously in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate in German and English (written and oral).

  • Experience with architecturally expressive structures and/or light & heavy wood frame;
  • A keen interest in architecture, parametric modelling and the use emerging technologies in the structural engineering domain;

Junior Structural Engineer
