Senior Structural Engineer (Senior Project Manager)
(Vancouver)

Our growing Vancouver team is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to manage and lead an exciting mix of local and not-so-local projects.  We are looking for a someone with a wide array of local project and technical experience who is experienced and familiar with local building practices, permitting and industry standards. A first-principles approach to engineering and a keen interest in architecture and building science is a must for this role.

You will:

  • Lead and manage medium to large sized buildings and specialty structure projects, throughout all design and construction phases including:
    • Oversee project team, including junior and intermediate engineers, drafters, etc.;
    • Project financial health management;
    • Monthly billing management.
  • Perform detailed structural design, including preparation of calculations, computer modelling and analysis, under the mentorship of the Associate or Principal-in-Charge;
  • Participate in and lead client meetings, facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges, and providing status updates;
  • Conduct review of the architectural, electrical, mechanical and structural drawings;
  • Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with contractors, other consultants, and suppliers;
  • Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge resources and mentor junior structural engineers to ensure project quality standards;
  • Be creative and innovative in problem solving;
  • Want to work with a team that is passionate and dedicated in a fast-paced environment;
  • Be driven to excel and outperform, while not taking yourself too seriously and having fun at work!
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 8 to 10 years of local experience designing buildings and specialty structures generally in the residential, commercial, municipal and institutional sectors;
  • You must be a P.Eng. registered in BC or eligible for accreditation within 6 months of your start date;
  • Strong track record in leading and delivering projects in steel and concrete. Timber is an asset but not a requirement;
  • A working knowledge and ability to use programs such as RFEM, S-Concrete, Tedds, MathCAD, other structural analysis software and other programs such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering;

  • Act as project manager for small to medium-sized projects, throughout all design and construction phases
  • Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with other design consultants, contractors, and suppliers
  • Have sound knowledge of codes and standards within the area of design responsibilities

Intermediate BIM Technician (Level 2) 
(Toronto)

Our growing Toronto office is looking for an Intermediate BIM Technician to join our talented team.

Since its inception in 2019, our Toronto office has been involved in some cutting-edge and highly visible projects in the city and surrounding areas. Our Toronto team is currently a hybrid of 7 on-site and remote team members, and we are looking for an enthusiastic individual keen on learning to grow with us during these exciting times. This is a unique opportunity to have a meaningful impact on company growth with the support of a community of knowledgeable and experienced colleagues.

You will:

  • Have a solid understanding of architectural and structural drawings and able to prepare structural design drawings and 3D models according to Aspect’s project quality standards
  • Be able to lead and execute BIM projects of all sizes
  • Prepare design submissions and other technical documents
  • Be proficient with Revit model and drawing production)
  • Be proficient in family and parameter management and development
  • Perform detailed drafting under the mentorship of the principal-in-charge
  • Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with contractors, other consultants, and suppliers

  • Effective at engaging with clients and colleagues through zoom

  • Apply design practices that keep with the company’s values and reputation.
  • Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge resources.
