Born and raised in an Engineering family and with a love for math and physics, Sara completed her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with distinction from UBC in 2006. She started her career as a structural engineer and after practicing for two years she returned to UBC to complete her Master’s degree in Structural and Earthquake Engineering. Being a lifelong learner and to extend her knowledge in seismic engineering, she attended the Seismic Retrofit Guidelines (SRG3) workshop in 2017 and has been certified to use the guidelines for seismic upgrade of low-rise school buildings in BC.
As a structural engineer with over a decade of design experience, Sara has gained extensive knowledge and expertise in structural engineering, practicing at some of longest established structural engineering firms in Vancouver. During her career, she has contributed to the design and development of various commercial, residential, institutional, healthcare and seismic upgrade projects. While experienced with different structural systems and materials, she is passionate and has a strong background in reinforced concrete design and has been involved with design and development of various prominent high-rise projects in Canada and the US.
In her younger days and before moving to Canada, Sara was a professional swimmer and worked as a lifeguard during Summer months. She enjoys being in nature and loves to travel to anywhere warm and sunny and be by the beach.
