Intermediate Engineer
(Toronto)

About the position:

As an Intermediate Engineer you will:

• Perform detailed structural design under the mentorship of the principal-in-charge and/or senior engineers

• Participate in delivering medium to large-sized projects, throughout all design and construction phases

• Act as project manager for small to medium-sized projects, throughout all design and construction phases

• Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with other design consultants, contractors, and suppliers

• Have sound knowledge of codes and standards within the area of design responsibilities

• Deliver project deliverables on time and on budget

• Build positive relationships with clients and help promote our core values

• Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge resources

• Be creative and innovative in problem-solving

• Act as a role model to junior engineers and BIM technicians

• Want to work with a team that is passionate, focused, and dedicated in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

What you’ll bring to our team:

• An undergraduate degree in structural engineering.

• Minimum 4 years of experience in structural consulting or related fields.

• A P.Eng. registered in Ontario or eligible for accreditation within 6 months of your start date.

• Ability to effectively engage with team members and clients virtually through Zoom/Teams.

• Ability to work autonomously in a team-oriented environment.

What makes you extra awesome:

 

• Master’s degree in structural engineering.

• Experience with architecturally expressive structures.

• Well-rounded knowledge and experience designing with timber, steel, and concrete.

• Suitable experience in commercial, residential and/or institutional projects.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Working knowledge of American codes and standards (PE is also advantageous).

• Ability to use programs such as RFEM, S-Concrete, Sizer, or other similar structural analysis software.

• Familiar with Revit and interest in parametric modeling.

• Understanding and experience with seismic analysis and design.

Intermediate Cadwork Detailer
(Toronto, Vancouver)

About The Role:

Our timber specialty team is growing fast, and we’re looking for an Intermediate Cadwork Detailer to join our passionate, talented team in one of our Canadian offices (Toronto or Vancouver). Here at Aspect, you’ll join a unique informal culture that values diversity, drive, accountability, quality, and collaboration – These aren’t just buzzwords, they’re part of everything we do!

Our ideal candidate has a precise understanding of developing shop drawing packages and is enthusiastic about leading projects, mentoring Junior Technicians, and building strong team environments.

On a typical day as an Intermediate Cadwork Detailer, you will:

● Exercise a deep understanding of architectural, structural, and fabrication models and drawings

● Develop 3D Cadwork models and shop drawings, to a fabrication level, according to Aspect’s project quality standards

● Incorporate suppliers’ desired parameters for fabrication, shipping, and installation

● Monitor project scope and manage allocated resources within budget limits, as assigned by the Project Manager

● Attend and present at consultant and client meetings at the direction and discretion of the Project Manager

● Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge, as well as mentor junior staff

● Collaborate with team members across other offices in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

● Contribute to a fun and welcoming work environment.

What you’ll bring to our team:

●      3 to 6+ years of experience in a similar position

●      Mastery in reading and interpreting structural engineering plans and details

●      Strong Cadwork skills in 2D and 3D, including the various export processes and set-up

●      Deep understanding of mass timber construction practices

●      A keen eye for aesthetics and an appreciation for clear and well-coordinated drawings

●      Effective at engaging with clients and colleagues via zoom

●      Ability to self-motivate and work independently, seeking support as necessary

●      Excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail

●      Demonstrated success in people leadership and collaboration

●      Be up to speed on the latest Cadwork tools and updates

●      Be proficient with Revit model and drawing production
