The VAHA McHardy Street development (in association with BC Housing) includes approximately 100 units of affordable housing, ranging from studios to 3 bedroom family units arranged over 6 storeys above grade. A single below-grade parkade will provide nearly 30 parking stalls, in addition to more than 170 spaces for bicycles. The design is being progressed using traditional light wood framing in conjunction with traditional nailed shear walls – traditional framing and methods which can tap into the vast and experienced local labour market. As well, the design using pre-panelized construction can shorten the construction period, and provide a high quality finish to this project.
