Lake Placid, NY
New build. 10,000 sq. ft.
The main residence consists of a three-storey 7,500 sq. ft. CLT structure supported on CIP foundations. The guest house consists of a 3,500 sq.ft. CLT structure, also supported on CIP foundations. The design team consisted of not only the usual consultants, but also included the CLT supplier and associated detailing consultant. This approach relies on an early tender of the structure and subsequent early involvement of the executing timber supply team. This approach requires an early and through coordination amongst the design team to have well prepared documents ready for an early tender. The eventual design team consisted of parties located in various time zones in North America and Europe. The teams collaboration was enabled and enhanced through state of the art online conferencing. Making this a truly online, collaborative design and supply project.
