Seattle, Washington
Set to be Seattle’s tallest mass timber building upon completion, Akari House is an 18-story mass timber multi-unit residential building. Located at 1422 Seneca Street, the building includes 135 residential units, as well as ground floor, upper floor, and rooftop amenity spaces. Dark metal and fiber cement cladding create a bark-like exterior for the tower, with glimpses of the mass timber structure visible through the windows.
The building is situated on a tight triangular site, with the structure consisting of twelve stories of Type IV-B mass timber construction atop Type 1-A concrete construction, with a continuous concrete core throughout. ASPECT is providing structural Engineer of Record services for the duration of the project, helping the project team optimize the building layout with consideration for structural efficiency, architectural requirements, and constructability.
