This six-bedroom home faces the scenic northeastern views of the mountains surrounding Whistler. The custom home includes a kitchen, recreation room, ski storage, fitness room, outdoor hot tub, swimming pool, and an attached three car garage. The home was constructed to display the surrounding natural environment, with interior features of exposed timber and rugged stone, as well as a “floating” staircase – all of which add to the home’s light and airy feeling.
Structurally, the custom residence consists of a mix of conventional concrete, steel posts and beams, and stick-framed walls as the superstructure. The roof is comprised of large cantilevers to carry the high-elevation snow loads in Whistler. In addition to performing the role of structural Engineer of Record, ASPECT’s scope included extensive specialty engineering work, including design and drafting for the featured cantilevered steel stairs, cantilevered concrete pool, and landscape structures.
