Armistead House

Whistler, BC

New build. 4,000 sq. ft.

Situated in a “locals” neighbourhood, this simple house backs onto a mature forest.  Deep screened-in eaves block hot western sun and enable bug-free summer evenings. Clad in rustic wood with only a few simple punched openings, this project stretches boxy wood frame building methods into airy interior spaces that treat the wrap-around view as a living movie screen of green trees, blue skies and mountain peaks.  A massive earth berm will  connect the top level living areas to the yard and family-friendly street, doubling as a tobogganing hill during the winter.
