Banff Recreation Grounds Pavilion

Banff, AB

This new pavilion serves as a hub for the local community, tourists, and visitors to the surrounding recreational grounds and the skating rink. The single storey pavilion features year-round restroom facilities, storage space, gathering/flex area, kitchenette, mechanical room, and outdoor BBQ area. The design incorporates sliding partitions to maximize flexibility of multi-purpose spaces.

The pavilion is constructed with pre-fabricated dowel laminated timber (DLT) panels supported atop a concrete slab on grade. The materials used are predominantly natural and local, with many containing recyclable content. The design adheres to the Town of Banff’s new Sustainable Building Policy and has achieved Passive House Low Energy Building and Rick Hansen Accessibility Certification.
