This project features prefabricated timber based residential housing to target two markets: Indigenous Housing & Single Family / Duplex homes. The model is aiming for Passive House certification and is designed to be highly efficient for both operational and embodied carbon. In order to meet the project’s sustainability goals and maximize efficiency, a Building Offsite Sustainable Systems (BOSS) model was used to allow for offsite construction, use of engineered wood and mass timber, and low embodied carbon materials. In addition, the BOSS model features 100% renewable energy sources and have open source information available. Two prototypical design for a 3,015 sq. ft. (280 sq. m.) single family/ duplex structure and a 9,040 sq. ft. (840 sq. m.) low rise multifamily were developed.
