Project Engineer | P.Eng.
Python pioneer, Girl dad, Weeknight chef
Connor grew up around the world, spending time in England, Scotland, Norway, Indonesia, Mexico, and Canada before eventually settling in British Columbia. He earned his Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from UBC. Fun fact: In his fourth-year wood design course, Connor learned directly from ASPECT’s CEO, Adam Gerber, during a one-time, six-week teaching gig.
With over five years of industry experience, Connor specializes in light wood frame and mass timber design. His project experience includes The Exchange, a mass timber office and retail development, and Baden Park, a large multi-unit residential project. Beyond project work, Connor is deeply interested in how engineering software can improve the engineering experience, making workflows clearer, faster, and more enjoyable. He created the world’s first full Python course for structural engineers (SEABC E29) and developed “handcalcs”, an open-source engineering tool now used by engineers around the world. He’s our very own global phenomenon.
Connor’s passion for structural engineering, software, wood design, and building runs deep – literally. Before returning to school for engineering, he lived in a tipi and later in a tiny home that he designed and built himself. He completed his degree while living in that tiny home on a farm.
When he’s not designing structures, building tools, or presenting on Python, Connor can be found going to the park with his architect wife and 3-year old daughter.
