Iced coffee addict, Vlogger, Traveler, Organization Fanatic

Born in South Korea, Julia and her family moved to Ontario when she was as young as six years old. Since then, she grew up in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and went on to attend the Architectural Engineering program at the University of Waterloo. During her time in university, she worked in various co-op positions gaining experience in the architecture, construction, and engineering industry. To complete her Bachelor of Applied Science degree, Julia participated in a capstone project where she worked on a hybrid structural system incorporating mass timber, concrete, and steel. While this project focussed on an institutional building, Julia has also gained knowledge about commercial and residential developments through her co-op experience. One of her proudest achievements is winning the MTE Capstone Design Symposium Award where her group proposed a new engineering building (Engineering 8) on the main Waterloo Campus, which would be designed to host the architecture and architectural engineering programs.

Julia is excited to take her success and learning from her school and co-op experiences (with one co-op at ASPECT), to apply to her work as she rejoins our team full time! She’s excited to be working out of our Toronto office to support our project teams and is looking forward to the opportunity to join site visits – she finds being able to see her designs constructed in real life very rewarding, we can’t argue with that!

Outside of work, Julia likes to go “café hopping” …some might call her an iced coffee connoisseur. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and going to the gym. Julia is very adventurous and is always up for travelling whenever she can, BUT sometimes she embraces that *homebody energy* and is content just watching (bingeing) Netflix, cozy-ing up with a book, and enjoying meals at home.
