Oakville, ON
Oakville’s new fire station was designed with the goal of serving the city’s growing population. The building was designed to obtain LEED® Silver certification, employing a hybrid structure – a combination of mass timber and structural steel. The facility consists of both glue laminated and cross laminated timber (CLT).
Designed with a high performing building enclosure, the new fire station benefits from better thermal performance and reduced energy costs. The building includes three fire truck bays, a gymnasium, a dormitory, a kitchen, offices, meeting rooms, an IT room, and specialized service spaces.
ASPECT provided Mass Timber Specialty Engineering services, and was directly engaged by Element5 who was responsible for the supply of the mass timber package. This project utilized Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) for design and construction.
