Vernon, BC
This new-build, four-storey Student Housing facility will provide 101 beds of student accommodation, a child care facility, and other related programming. The project meets the requirements of BC Energy Step Code – Level 4.
This development is one of three student residences that follow a similar structural system design. The ASPECT project team designed standard layouts for both the Vernon and Salmon Arm campus buildings, with most unit types as single or quad dorm style. When working on the student housing for Salmon Arm, the team applied learnings from the Vernon campus. These layout solutions are also applied to the third location in Penticton, British Columbia, utilizing design principles and lessons from the first two campuses. All three student housing buildings integrate mass timber design and are comprised of light wood frame, featuring exposed timber columns with carvings of Indigenous artwork.
