Intermediate Engineer | M.Sc.
Cat Dad, knitter, home cook, bookworm
Raul obtained his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in 2014. He then decided to continue his education in the United Kingdom, and obtained his master’s degree from Brunel University in London. After finishing his studies, he returned to his native Dominican Republic to work in the Ministry of Public Works as a structural reviewer where he reviewed structural design of various building projects for conformance with the relevant codes and approval of building permits.
Then, after more than 20 years of constant 30C weather, Raul decided to make the move to Canada – during a winter storm in 2019. He has since been involved in various residential, commercial and institutional projects, mostly of mass timber and light wood frame construction. At Aspect, he is looking forward to expanding his knowledge base and gaining experience in larger scale mass timber developments.
Outside of the office, Raul enjoys reading books, knitting or building mechanical keyboards, while his cat continues her quest to destroy all furniture corners in existence or toppling Christmas trees.
