Senior Engineer | M.Eng., C.Eng., MIStructE.
Twin-tastic Dad, Artist on the side, Mountain lover, Trail runner, Wannabe ski bum
Born and raised in Scotland, Ross studied Civil Engineering with Architecture at the University of Glasgow. After graduating, he moved to London, where he spent six years working with a structural design consultancy. In early 2020, he made the move to Canada, joining ASPECT’s Vancouver office where he worked for three years. Now back in Edinburgh, Ross returns to ASPECT collaborating with our Bern office to help expand our U.K. presence.
With over a decade of industry experience, Ross has contributed to several notable projects around the world. His portfolio includes the Alice Hawthorn Inn, which was recognized at The Wood Awards 2021, and the Mount Carmel Spirituality Center — a complex CLT / Glulam project. He is also an approved certifier for the Structural Engineers Registration (SER) scheme in Scotland.
Ross brings a creative approach to his work, collaborating closely with project teams to develop innovative solutions. His passion for creativity extends beyond engineering, with a background in liberal arts and a love for really all of the arts. Outside of work, Ross is an artist and runs a greeting card business, which he claims, “didn’t start as an intentional business but naturally grew over time”. Talk about business acumen!
When he’s not designing (structures or cards), Ross is an avid outdoors enthusiast. He skis as often as he can and enjoys running, cycling, mountain biking, hiking, and camping — basically anything that gets him outdoors.
