Director of Marketing & Communications | B.A., Communications
Reader, writer, road runner
When Samantha (AKA Sam) studied communications at the University of Calgary, there was a required course that paired up the communications students with the engineering students for a group project. Sam distinctly remembers thinking, “Well, that was super weird and difficult. Never again, please.” Despite this initial impression (or perhaps owing entirely to the challenge this course presented), Sam has, in fact, spent nearly her entire career working with engineers, architects, contractors, and developers – building brands and breaking down complex topics to get to the heart of the message.
Over the course of the past 15 years, Sam has led everything from internal communications strategies, to proposals, to brand development playbooks, and everything in between. She is particularly passionate about community building, as well as the broader impact of the built environment on our world – particularly socially and ecologically. Sam is a champion of great graphics, plain language writing, and messages that create clarity and connections within an industry of well-meaning and brilliant people.
Originally hailing from Alberta, Sam currently lives in Toronto and loves running along the quiet city streets in the wee hours of the morning. When not running or exploring in some way, Sam is generally quite still, and can be found curled up with a great book or clacking away at a keyboard battling the blank page.
