Shaare Zedek Cancer Centre

Jerusalem, Israel

Shaare Zedek Medical Centre is one of Israel’s most prominent health sciences organizations. ASPECT is engaged to help develop the roof / lobby area of the new expansion. This portion of the building will be a mass timber structure with a large atrium skylight. The shape resembles a “butterfly”, and will be the largest and most intricate wood structure in the region. Besides early development of the concepts, ASPECT also facilitated the RFQ and RFP process to help find the right partner for the execution of the timber structure. Our drawings were developed to a level of detail which allowed us to issue member lists, connections types and steel weights. It was understood that these quantities may change slightly once the supplier is on board and helps refine the system. But this approach allowed an even playing field for all the bidders as everyone was basing their bid on the same assumptions.
