Sumi Raveendiran

Sumi completed her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Waterloo in 2022. Following graduation, she took a trip from Toronto to the West Coast, where she was captivated by British Columbia’s unique blend of mountains, ocean views, and city life. Fascinated by structural and earthquake engineering, Sumi decided to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of British Columbia.

Sumi has had previous co-op terms working with drafting, consulting firms, and the government. She particularly enjoyed the structural consulting positions where she got to see projects come to fruition through the different design stages. Her desire to learn more about structural engineering and be involved in more sustainable wood projects led her to an internship with Aspect (plus, the office dogs!).

During her free time, Sumi loves listening to music, hanging out with friends, and exploring new hiking trails.
