Project Engineer | EIT, M.Eng.
Plant dad, Coffee fanatic, “Expert” home cook, Amateur painter
Thomas’ love of building things started as a child in rural Ontario, when he would dream up extravagant tree houses and (almost) bring his visions to life. This passion for buildings led him to complete a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering at McGill University in Montreal, QC. One of his favorite side projects while at McGill was captaining his university’s Concrete Canoe team (Yes, he built canoes out of concrete. And yes, they floated).
After completing his B.Eng., Thomas moved to Chicago, IL, where he worked as a Project Manager at a Design-Build General Contractor. As a Project Manager, Thomas managed the full design and construction of many interesting and complex projects across the US and Canada. He gained a knowledge of all the moving parts of a project, and how to achieve optimal results for stakeholders.
After a few years in his position, Thomas discovered his passion for mass timber buildings, and decided to transition back into Engineering with a particular focus on Mass Timber. To facilitate this transition, he completed a M.Eng. in Integrated Wood Design at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George, BC.
Thomas worked in collaboration with Aspect on his M.Eng. Final Project, and then joined the team full-time upon completion of his M.Eng. program. He is thrilled to have the opportunity to design sustainable, beautiful, and functional buildings for his clients and community.
In his free time, he can be found cycling along the Vancouver Seawall, misting his plant babies, or sipping coffee and eating way too many pastries.
