Violet’s Corner

Violet’s Corner consists of five, three-level townhouse units with basement suites grouped around an intimate courtyard. The basement suites have their own entrances and patios, and provide rental income to promote affordability.

These townhomes are constructed from conventional light wood framing, with concrete foundation walls. The site is notably sloped, which ultimately required the townhome design to “step” incrementally from one unit tot he next, requiring special attention to the detailing of the stepped structural diaphragms.

ASPECT incorporated continuous hold-down systems with shrinkage take-up devices in the wood shearwalls to control seismic demands while accommodating the expected vertical shrinkage of the wood frame.
