Westbay Passive House

West Vancouver, BC

This 4,100 sq.ft, three level residence achieved a Passive House Plus certification, an Energuide Rating of 0 tonnes of Green House Gas, and a 0 GJ of energy consumption rating. The main house structure is designed with prefabricated CLT floor, wall, and roof assemblies and is supported on a concrete main level and basement with insulated raft foundations. The building was extensively detailed to ensure it met Passive House certification, including thermally broken balcony and overhangs which made for some unique structural challenges – while still complementing the architectural intent.
